Holly Willoughby: I can’t stop eating cheese
British TV presenter Holly Willoughby says she “can’t stop” eating cheese because she’s pregnant.
Willoughby, who fronts shows such as “Dancing on Ice” and “The Xtra Factor”, told The Sun newspaper her craving is “getting worse” as she nears her May due date.
Connoisseurs will no doubt recoil at the 28-year-old minor celebrity’s cheese of choice: processed Kraft slices.
However, it represents a relatively safe option during pregnancy, which can become a minefield of cheese choices.
Cheese can be a good source of protein and calcium for pregnant women, but certain kinds should be avoided due to the risk of bacteria that can harm unborn children.
These include soft, mould-ripened cheeses such as Brie or Camembert and blue veined cheeses such as Stilton or Gorgonzola.
